But the beauty of this blog is that it will be right here waiting for you whenever you are ready for your next dose of inspiration. :)

We have another great Sketch Challenge to share with you today. I always have so much fun designing these sketches and seeing what you and all the Rock Stars will create from it. So here we go…

Wendy, owner of Repeat Impressions ask me to post a Project of the Week and I’ve taken the opportunity to use some Watercolor paper and Tim Holtz Stains. I used the Christmas stamp #2109-K Twelve Days of Christmas (Stamper Style).

20131124-180359.jpg

Here’s how I did it:

1. Stamp with clear Stazon ink and emboss with White Embossing Powder.
2. After embossing cools, spritz watercolor paper with water; the more water, the more the ink blends.
3. Put small amount of Distress STAIN on a clear block or kraft mat.
4. Spritz puddle of stain with water and wet a water color brush – for this I used one that was about 1.5 inches wide.
5. Paint over embossed sentiment.
6. Assemble card.

This is a quick technique I’m going to be using again and again – I’ve discovered that the more water you add to the card and your brush, the lighter and more blended the colors become. On the above card, my paper was not very wet and I went over the sentiment several times.

Hope you try this technique, it’s fun and EASY. Thanks for looking at my card and have a HAPPY stamping day.

Repeat Impressions

Good morning! I’m Geri with a new project for Repeat Impressions. I thought I would share a couple of ways to make a base for cards using dies with fancy lace borders. My daughter Theresa showed me this easy way to attach a base using Spellbinder’s Majestic Labels #25. In this sample, a shaped card where the lacy border is covered by the base. After assembling the front of my card using die #6 and #5 and the the front panel is #4. I added my sentiment and my stamped and cut out the poinsettias, I set it aside.

20131117-092032.jpg

For the base : Use a 6 1/2 by 8 1/2 , score and fold along the 8 1/2 side of cream colored card stock and placed the folded side just below where the top of my card would be and cut it out using just the #6 die, as shown in photo. Glue the back of front panel to the front of folded base.

Here is a view of the side.

20131117-092246.jpg

I used pop-dots under the top panel and flowers.

20131117-092348.jpg

This last card is a card I made earlier this year and in this one, using die #6 for the base. In this sample the base is glued to the front along top lacy portion, leaving a open lacy border. Cut two and emboss. I did a score line just under the lacy top border (so you can open the card) on one of them and glued just the top lace parts together. The front of the card was made using a piece of MME DP and die #5 cut and embossed it. Using very vanilla CS cut and emboss #3 and #4. I then sponged a little memento ink and attached my cut out images.
