Good Morning!  Today on The House That Stamps Built blog it is my turn to do a Project of the Week and I would like to tell you about an easy way to do ombre backgrounds.

Supplies are few:
white card stock,
ink – any kind – I experimented with 4 different kinds

Step 1… is to ink up your brayer.
Step 2… roll onto the card stock several time – until ink is gone.
Step 3… re-ink brayer and repeat step 2 until you have the depth of color you want. Always start at the same place so the ink gets darker and then lighter as you roll down the card stock.

Here is a finished card.

For this card I used one of Wendy’s new Large Sentiment sets called Happy Cling Set.  This set has nineteen different sentiments for all occasions.  The snowflake is called Snowflake Outline. Both were heat embossed with White Detail Embossing powder on top of the inked card stock.

Hope you give this easy technique a try – it is fun!   Thanks for looking at my card. Have a happy Stamping Day!

Dec 232015

Happy Wednesday and thank you so much for taking time out from this busy Christmas week to visit with us! Today we’re celebrating Repeat Impressions‘ awesome design team again with one final Rock Star Spotlight.

If you have been a regular visitor this month then you already know that I’ve been giving the Rock Stars a little break from some of their usual design team duties. I think this little game of 20 questions has been a really fun way to get to know more about the talented ladies behind all the creations we share here, don’t you?!

Today we’re shining the spotlight on Repeat Rock Star, Deonna Bemish.

Deonna Bemish

1. Tell us a little about your family.
I’ve been married to Scott for the last 19 years. He is a pilot for XO jet aviation. We have a 16 year old daughter Alina and a 14 yr old son, Kole.

I started stamping after being invited to a Stampin’ Up party about 8 years ago and not stopped yet.

I don’t have a favorite technique, I love all of them.

4. What is your favorite tool?
My favorite tool would have to be my paper trimmer. I use it daily.

5. What are your favorite embellishments?
My favorite embellishments are ones that I can make myself. Bottle caps, stick pens etc…

6. What is your favorite coloring method?
I love my Copics but have experimented with water colors, colored pencil, and paints.

I really like monochrome browns, but also like pink and brown together.

Detailed, articulate, fun

9. Do you always send the cards you create?
I donate a lot of my cards to SAS4 kids or make them for our church as a fundraiser.

10. For which occasion or holiday do you create the most cards?
Halloween is what I make most cards for a holiday, along with Christmas. Birthdays mostly for family.

Base Mat – 5 1/4″ x 4″ Silver Cardstock
1 Piece of White Cardstock cut to 2 1/4″ x 2″- Score the 2 1/4″ side at 1/8″, 1-1/8″ and 2-1/8″
2″ x 2″ Square of White cardstock to stamp image on
1 pc. 2″ x 3″ piece of Red Cardstock
Score Board or tool
1/8″ Scor-tape
Sizzix Big Shot or other die cut machine
Washi Tape – Crafters Square is mine
Black Archival ink – Ranger
Repeat Impressions Stamps – 1020-G, Holly Bunny and 2219-G, May your days…

1. Cut the cardstock to the measurements above and score your lines if needed. Die cut your decorative framed square and the center with your 2″ x 2″ Spellbinders die. Shown here.

2.  Stamp your Holly Bunny stamp onto your White 2″ x 2″ square using Black Archival ink. Set aside or Color.

3.  Fold your base card in half on the score line and glue your Silver base mat to the front of your card base. Make sure that you center it to leave a 1/8″ red border around the card.

4.  Lay your Decorative Square frame where desired on your silver base mat. DO NOT GLUE DOWN! Put glue on the backside of your 2″ x 2″ stamped image and center inside the Red Frame. You may then remove the red frame from your card and put together your window as follows.

5.  Fold your piece of White Cardstock that measures 2-1/4″x 2″ on your previously scored lines. The center line should be mountain folded and then the  1/8″ sections should be valley folded. See photo.
