2. Color the image as desired. I used Copic markers to color mine.

3. Take your Spellbinders rectangle die and using your die cut machine, cut it out. After running it through the Big Shot, leave the cardstock in the die and flip to the backside. Put a piece of tape on the back of the die and image to keep it from moving. Flip over to the front again.

4. Grab your stippling brushes and distress ink. Take your Broken China Distress Ink and run the brush through the ink just getting a small amount on the tips of the bristles. Pounce the excess ink off onto a scrap piece of paper and then run the bristles back and forth over the image to cover. Continue until you get the desired color. Repeat the process using your Forest Moss Distress Ink.

Hi everyone,

Cheri here with a fun Project of the Week for you. I love doing all sorts of craft things with pretty napkins and one of the things I like to do is make cards with them. Let me show you how I do it.

The supplies I use are napkins (of course), gel matte medium, two paint brushes (one for the gel medium and one for water – only one brush is shown in the photo) and card stock of your choice. I used 80# white for this.

potw61917-cw1

The first thing you’ll need to do is separate your napkins. Some are 2 ply and some are 3 ply. It’s important to only have the image layer of the napkin. The easiest way I’ve found to separate the panels is take a piece of tape, and stick it to the back side of the napkin and pull off the layers. They come apart easily this way. Once separated, you can cut the napkin is sections.

potw61917-cw2

potw61917-cw3

The next step is to find the area of the napkin you want to have on your card layer and you can easily tear that away by taking one of your paint brushes get it lightly wet and barely touch the outside area of the image, being careful to keep the water from wetting more area than you wish.

potw61917-cw4

The next step is to apply gel medium to the brush you’ve set aside for that and use the gel to attach the torn napkin to your card stock panel. Brushing gently from the center to the outside in order to avoid wrinkles.

potw61917-cw5

Once dry, you can trim your piece and create your card. This is a great technique for a quick card using just a sentiment stamp.

I have made these in sets and given them as gifts many times. They really are quite fun to make and I’m sure you can think of many other ways to use those pretty napkins.

Above I used Repeat Impressions stamps #8114-F Chicken Soup/Puppies and #1112-E “Just a Note”

and Repeat Impressions #1145-F “Greetings From” and “Happy” plate #9800

I hope you’ll give this project a try… it’s really a fun one.

Happy Wednesday, crafty peeps! I hope your week is going well so far. You know how they say, “be careful what you wish for.” I had been complaining about the cool, wet spring we were having, but the last few days have been freakishly hot and humid here like we skipped ahead to the end of July. Whew! This northern girl doesn’t function so well when the temps rise to 90 degrees. But thank goodness it’s starting to cool off today. That’s another great thing about Maine. Like the other popular old saying… “If you don’t like the weather in New England now, just wait a few minutes.” :)

And today here at “The House” it’s time to kick off a fun Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge. I have created the Tic-Tac-Toe style board below using various stamping themes, elements, and embellishments. Then, similar to the game, you will create something based on picking any row of 3… either vertically, horizontally or diagonally. Fun, right?! And with so many great variables you can’t help but play along!

Check out all this wonderful inspiration the RI Rock Stars have created for you! Such a fun variety of styles and images!!
