Good morning, crafty friends! I hope you are all having a good week. I am still enjoying being here at home. For the first time ever, Repeat Impressions will not be making the long drive from Maine to Texas this week to do what would normally be our first stamp show of the year. We sure will miss seeing all our TX stamping friends, although the 3 day drive not so much. But don’t despair TX stampers, you can always shop with us online. AND I’ve included a special discount coupon code for you in the printed SSAT show program. So be sure to check it out if you will be attending the show this weekend and then visit us online and start saving.

But back to today… Do you have some free time to get creative? If so, come play along with our Anything Goes Challenge. It doesn’t get any easier than this… This week you may submit any kind of card or stamped creation that you wish.

Here are all the great creations the RI Rock Stars came up with to inspire you and get us started. What a wonderful variety of styles and images!

This week here at The House That Stamps Built it is my week to do the POTW (Pick of the Week) I usually wonder what complicated technique or fold I can show but this time I went with SIMPLE – (doesn’t get any simpler than this.) The supplies are something we all have on hand and I know a couple of our Rock Stars love to use their left over scraps so hope this will come in handy for them.

potw12218-sh1

You will need your card base – I used Kraft, layering piece cut 4 inches x 5 1/4 4 scraps of DP or pattern card stock – 1″x 4″, distress ink (I used Old Paper, and a sponge dauber) Versa-Fine Vintage Sepia, scallop circle punch, 1″ circle punch, and adhesive.

potw12218-sh2

I had a bunch of kitty/cat DP which I had used in scrapping several years ago so I picked out 4 that I thought would go together. Cut 4 strips of 1 inch by 4 inch DP and punch 4 – 1 inch circles from same DP. Lay out your design on your layering piece.

potw12218-sh3

I then distressed the edges of the strips and circles with Old Paper distress ink. When you get them the way you think they are eye appealing glue down your inch strips on your 1″ x 4 1/4″ layer making sure you butt then right next to each other. Place the circles on the bottom and glue them in place with about 1/2 of the circle below the strip line.

potw12218-sh4

After you have glued the strips and circles glue a 3/4 in. x 4 inch strip horizontally across the bottom of the strips and circles, making this look like a scallop. At this time I also stamped my sentiment 1807-F I’m so glad found here.

potw12218-sh5

Stamp your focal image 2604-I Cat with Ribbon found here on a scallop circle. I colored the bow on kitty with an orange glitter pen. I then tied a ribbon around the 3/4 inch strip and then used pop dots to pop up my scallop circle.

Hope you try this – was fun and used up some of those small scraps that we all seem to collect.

Hello. It’s my turn for Pick of the Week here at The House That Stamps Built. This week, I want to focus on Stenciling.

First of all I stamped the sentiment and the bee in Versafine ink and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder.

Then, I stenciled the honeycomb back ground onto a white card panel using Distress squeezed lemonade ink and a blending tool. I went a little bit brighter or darker on the inside and then fading out toward the edge of the card.

potw11518-lu1

Stamps used are 9308-C Bee and 9312-D Just “Bee” cause. I kept this very clean and simple so that the focal point of the stenciling doesn’t get lost. I also stamped a bee in the inside right hand corner to continue with the cuteness!

potw11518-lu2

Hope your inspired to get out your stencils and play around a bit.
Thanks for stopping by!

~ Laurie
