This week’s Stamp of the Week is our #4402-O Damselfly image. And no, although it sounds like it ought to be, a damselfly is not a girl dragonfly. ;-) A damselfly is an insect very similar to the dragonfly but there are a few key differences…

A dragonfly has a more stout body, and the rear wings have a broader base and are a little larger than the front pair. Its wings also extend to each side while it is perched.

A damselfly, by contrast, has a more slender body. The front and hind wings are similar in shape, and as a result they fly slower than dragonflies do. But the key difference… damselflies have hinges enabling them to fold their wings together when resting which dragonflies cannot do. Bet you weren’t expecting a nature lesson today, huh?!

Damselflies or dragonflies… I love them both for their beautiful colors and their skill at keeping the mosquito population in check in my backyard. And now I can also admire them for how wonderful they look stamped on a card. Just check out these beautiful cards the Rock Stars created to inspire you this week!

I hope you had a pleasant weekend doing something special. I spent mine in Pittsburgh, PA doing another stamp convention. :-) Keeping up with my blogging when I spend so much time on the road is a bit of a challenge, but I think it’s totally worth it. Of course it helps that I have such a great design team creating fabulous things for me to share with you!

You must have noticed by now, Monday is always an important day here at The House That Stamps Built. It’s Stamp of the Week day again! This time we’re offering up our #1704-P Great Blue Heron. Happy Monday! I hope you had a great 4th!! The weather was just spectacular here in Maine all weekend. Bill and I celebrated America’s birthday with a big group of family and friends… enjoyed a dip in the lake and ate way too much good food of course! But holiday calories don’t count, right?! ;-)

Now despite today being an extended holiday for many folks, here at Repeat Impressions it’s business as usual. And that means it’s time for a new Stamp of the Week! This week we’re featuring our 4103-K Sea Turtle. Check out these great cards created by the Rock Stars!

One of my favorite sightings in Maine are the lupines that bloom along a stretch of road near here every June. The long, sweeping patches bursting with purples, blues and pinks are always breathtaking.

Lupines... my favorite Maine wildflowers!

Unfortunately lupines aren’t around for very long, but while they are here they really do make quite an impact. So this week I’m celebrating my favorite wildflower and prolonging their season by featuring my #1711-K Lupine image for our Stamp of the Week. And just look at all the beautiful cards our Rock Stars have created to inspire you!

My how time flies… I can hardly believe today is the official first day of summer! Woohoo! Before I know it one of my favorite holidays will be upon us. I love celebrating the 4th of July… a special day to watch my little niece twirl her baton in the parade, then gather with family and friends by the lake for some fun in the sun, cook-out and fireworks… time to celebrate the red, white and blue! So this week I’m getting in the spirit by offering our #3704-I Land of the Free image for our Stamp of the Week feature.

Check out all the wonderful pieces created by our Rock Stars to inspire you. If these don’t put you in a patriotic spirit then I don’t know what will! And don’t forget to leave us all a little love too… we love to hear your comments!

Ready to get started or add on to your vertical stamp collection? If so, this verse is a great place to begin. This stamp is available exclusively to our blog readers at 50% OFF from June 14 - June 20, 2010 only. (Limited to 1 per person please.) Please refer to my WHAT IF? Wednesday post from 6/2 for all the details. Don’t be shy… play along with our sketch, upload a link to your card here on the RI blog and you’ll automatically be entered to win a $25 Repeat Impressions gift certificate!

No stamping for me today though. Time for me to get busy packing up for the big stamp show this weekend. Any Floridians out there? If you plan on attending StampFest Orlando please be sure to come by and say hello. :-)

Thanks for joining us today! I hope you’ll come by again on Wednesday when we reveal our next sketch challenge for WIW!
