Hi everyone… Deonna here, bringing you my Project of the Week. One of my “Rock Star” sisters, Kathy, encouraged me to show how to make a Window Slider Card, so here goes.
Hi there!
Cheri here with a new Project of the Week for The House. It’s a really quick one and so, so easy but packs enough drama so that people will be wowed by the results. I call it “Ink Dragging”.
For this example I’m using Brilliance Inks. I’ve had them for a long time and thought they needed some attention, they also add a fantastic shimmery effect with this technique which is great for Christmas cards.
Here are the supplies you’ll need:
Dark card stock (that’s the drama)
clear embossing powder
Versa Mark or some other clear ink for heat embossing
stamps
Ink (dye or pigment)
Stamp your image on your dark card stock with VersaMark or any clear embossing ink, sprinkle with clear embossing powder and heat set.
Take your dye or pigment ink pad and begin dragging it from the top of the embossed image to the bottom of the card stock. Try and do this in one swipe without putting heavy pressure on the ink pad. You can go over it again if it’s too light, but you can’t remove it if you have too much.
Take a paper towel or a soft cloth and wipe the ink off the embossed area. It pops right out from the background.
Finally, trim your layer and mount it against another layer and place it on your card base. For this card I also added some Brilliance “Galaxy Gold” in the sky area as well as on the light of the lighthouse. For this card I used RI Stamps #8908-G Magical Christmas, RI# 2101-Q- Santa Over Portland Head Light.
RI#2709-I “Large Pine Forest” and #2219-G “May Your Days”.
That’s it! Super easy and fast. I hope you give it a try.
Hi there!
Christmas is just around the corner, and we always need a last minute inexpensive, but thoughtful gift for friends, neighbors, Sunday School members, etc.
My Project of the Week for Repeat Impressions is quick, easy, and adorable!
Let’s get started - we are making a Lip Balm Holder…
Start with a 4 3/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of cardstock.
On the 4 3/4″ side, score at 2″ and 2 3/4″.
On the 4 1/4″ side, score at 3/4″ and 3 1/2″.
Burnish your fold lines with a bone folder.
On the 4 3/4″ side, cut in to the fold lines to create 4 tabs, as shown below.
Add 2 sided adhesive tape, embellish front side as desired, and punch out a ‘handle’.
For my card front, I’ve used Repeat Impressions 2107-H ‘Noel’, and heat
embossed it in silver.
Bring your flaps in together and adhere. Pull your box front and back up, and let the
remaining ‘sticky’ adhere the tabs and box together. It will look like this.
Drop in your lip balm, and tie ‘handle’ closed. (I also colored my poinsettia)
Looking at this from the top down, here’s what it should look like.
Give it a try! If you do, stop by and let us know, so we can come see your beautiful creation!
Thanks for stopping by today!
Hugs,
Patti J.
It’s my turn to show a Project of the Week here at The House That Stamps Built blog and I’m going to show you how to decorate a plain gift bag. We held my twins’ birthday party this weekend and their uncle gave them gifts in these cute little plain kraft bags. I snagged one as it was perfect for my project. Here are the supplies you’ll need to create your own:
-Gift bag (whatever size you want)
-card stock and coordinating papers
-dies and white card stock for your focal panel
-stamps (I used Repeat Impressions’ “Noel“, “Pointsettia” “Hello” and “Thanks” I am also showing “Christmas” but didn’t end up using it.”
I started by creating my paper layers. I NEVER measure, so I thought I show you how I make my cuts. I lay my piece of card stock on top of my gift bag and make sure I have the border I wanted showing around the outside.
Then I use a pencil to make a mark on the two sides that need to be cut. You can see my pencil line just above the bottom of the gift bag. Then I use my paper trimmer to cut along those two lines. It leaves you with the perfect size paper and no measuring needed!
I did the same thing with my patterned paper: lay it on the already cut piece of card stock and mark where I want to cut with a pencil.
After all my layers were cut and adhered together, I moved on to stamping. I die cut my label, stamped “Noel” and colored in the poinsettia.
I also cut a small label to use for my tag, stamped “Poinsettia” and colored it in. I added gold paint pen to the center to make it pop.
On the back, I stamped the ‘for’ from “Thanks” and ‘you’ from “Hello“.
And here is my gift bag all assembled. I used pop dots to pop up my sentiment panel and tied on my tag with a scrap piece of ribbon and some twine.
I hope I’ve inspired you to create your own gift bags. Thanks for checking out my Project of the Week.
