Whew… July already! Summer is really in full swing now. I hope all our U.S. followers had a wonderful holiday yesterday. Isn’t the July 4th celebration a great way to start a month?! Too bad every month doesn’t start with the same fun and fanfare. :)

Today here at “The House” we’re kicking off a new month of challenges with one of our wonderful Designer’s Choice Challenges. This time around RI Rock Star, Deonna Bemish is hosting and challenging you all to “create a scene”. So many fun possibilities… check it out!

Here is the great scenic card that Deonna created to get everyone started.

So a few days ago Deonna shared her creation with her fellow Rock Stars and asked them all to create a scenic card. Check out all the fabulous creations they came up with to inspire you this week! Always such a wonderful variety.

Repeat Impressions

Jul 032017

Donna here with the Project of the Week for Repeat Impressions. I choose Distress Oxide Cling Wrap Background and had a lot of fun with this. I hope you will enjoy my tutorial and give this technique a try. I will be posting more cards at a later date that I make with more of the fun backgrounds I created!

The supplies you will need are: cling wrap, Oxide Distress Inks, (you can substitute watercolor powders or watercolors), a spray bottle of water, watercolor paper (you can substitute a good quality glossy card stock).

I am going to explain two versions, both are fun and striking, the second version requires more time patience.

Version one:
1) Spread cling wrap on your work surface. Smoosh Distress Oxide inks on the cling wrap, on my second go round I did not overlap them as much and liked those results better.

2) Spritz liberally with water.

3) Set card stock (4 /1/4 by 5 1/2 “) on the ink. Press down and scrunch the cling wrap a bit.

4) Flip over and scrunch cling wrap up and add any more colors to achieve desired look and more of a scrunched look.

Second version:
After laying the cardstock down on the Distress Oxide Inks flip over and let dry completely, no heat tool, be patient.

Complete cards as desired:
Version 1 using Repeat Impressions 6113-W Life is not…

Version 2 using Repeat Impressions 9009-W Butterfly (sm) and 3404-C, Random Dots.

I hope you enjoyed this technique and will give it a try. I would enjoy seeing your creations!

Repeat Impressions

Jun 262017

Hi everyone, Deonna here with a Project of the Week for Repeat Impressions. Today, I would like to share a simple background technique with all of you that I call a Faux Airbrushed Background.

Supplies needed to create:
Repeat Impressions stamps - 1711-K, Lupine and 9717-C, Happy Hello
Acrylic Block
White Copic friendly cardstock
Black ink pad - This is a Ranger Archival Black
Copic Markers
Washi tape
Rectangle Spellbinder die
Distress inks in Broken China and Forest Moss
Die Cut Machine - Mine is a Big Shot
Scrap paper
Stippling Brushes

1. Take your black ink pad, stamp, block, and white cardstock. Stamp the image onto the cardstock.

2. Color the image as desired. I used Copic markers to color mine.

3. Take your Spellbinders rectangle die and using your die cut machine, cut it out. After running it through the Big Shot, leave the cardstock in the die and flip to the backside. Put a piece of tape on the back of the die and image to keep it from moving. Flip over to the front again.

4. Grab your stippling brushes and distress ink. Take your Broken China Distress Ink and run the brush through the ink just getting a small amount on the tips of the bristles. Pounce the excess ink off onto a scrap piece of paper and then run the bristles back and forth over the image to cover. Continue until you get the desired color. Repeat the process using your Forest Moss Distress Ink.

5. Remove the tape from the die and look at the beautiful frame that you have left and the colors of the background. Now your ready to create your card.

Thank you everyone for stopping by today. I hope that you will give this technique a try.
