Happy Hump Day, crafty friends! I hope your week is going well so far. I’m smack dab in the middle of a run of 3 back to back to back shows. This week we’re on route to Monroeville, PA for another StampScrapArtTour Show. So if you happen to live in the Pittsburgh area then be sure to come by and see me at the Repeat Impressions‘ booth this weekend. We have added lots and lots of new stamps since our last trip to PA.

In the meantime, it’s challenge day here again at The House so I’ve got a new sketch to share with you. Project of the Week ~ Centering Sentiments In A Window

Hi… Joy here today and it is my turn to do the Project of the Week for Repeat Impressions. I’m wanting to share a new trick I learned this last week. The following pictures will show you how to center a sentiment or image in a window. This is especially useful for the rubber stamps that are not clear.

1. Cut out the window using your favorite cutting machine. Here I’m showing the sentiment I want centered.

2. Here I have laid open the card.
Use a little washi tape to secure the card to a grid mat.
Center the sentiment or image using the grid lines in the window.

3. Ink up the stamp and close the back of the card to the front and gently press down on the backside of the card.

Easy - Peazy!!! I love centering my sentiments and images this way - don’t need a Stamp-a-ma-jig or Misti or any other tool.

Finished card…

The sentiment is called A Friend Knows, 2521-H and the flowers stamped on paper and vellum are from the new series called Flower Power.

Good morning, crafty friends! I hope you are all having a good week so far. Bill and I have been busy preparing for another stamp show. It seems like we just barely got home and here we are getting ready to hit the road again… this time to Wilmington, DE. We’ll be at the Chase Center on the Riverfront for the StampScrapArtTour Show happening this Saturday and Sunday, July 23rd & 24th. This is our first time doing a show in Wilmington so if you are in the area we’d love to see you there!

But today it’s time to introduce another WHAT IF? Wednesday challenge here at “The House”. This week we have a fun Photo Inspiration for you.

So “what if” we showed you this photo… What does it inspire you to create? What do you see?… Is your focus on the subject matter? The colors? The shapes? A feeling the photo brings out in you? A little of each maybe?

Project of the Week ~ Pigment Ink Backgrounds with an Alcohol Twist

Hi everyone! It’s my turn to host the project of the week here at The House That Stamps Built. Today I’m going to be doing an old technique but twisting it up with pigment inks.

First of all, gather your supplies. You will need:

1. Pigment inks - I used colorbox petal point inks which I think most of us have.
2. Rubbing Alcohol (that is what is in the purple spray bottle below)
3. Cotton Balls/Pads
4. Glossy paper (I also tried this out on some photo printer paper that was glossy and it worked just fine.)

I did this on my craft mat so that I could go over the entire surface of the paper.

Using two of the colors in the container I randomly stamped it onto the glossy paper. Then I took cotton pad and saturated it with alcohol and blended it together. I tended to pounce the pad around instead of rubbing so that it wouldn’t become a muddy mess.

Below is what I ended up with.

Once dry, I adhered it onto a white card base and finished my card.

Here is the final result. I used Repeat Impressions’ 8503-U, Moments Quartet stamp to create this card. Butterflies are stamped three times and colored with Copic’s. One of them is fussy cut out and I also added a bit of craft wire for the antenna.

That’s it, pretty easy and you don’t need to drag out your alcohol inks do this either. I love the results you can get using the pigment inks you have on hand.
