Happy Wednesday, everyone! I hope you’ve had a memorable week since I last checked in with you. Despite the unusually warm October weather we’ve been having here lately, we have finally had a few more fall like days. So lucky me… I was able to get out last weekend for a little family time and my favorite autumn tradition… apple picking! Yay!! And of course I had to overindulge and treat myself to the fabulous apple cider donuts with maple glaze made fresh at the orchard bakery. Yum!! I’m not even going to tell you how many donuts I ate… Yikes!! Good thing I only get there once a year. 😀

Today here at “The House” it’s time to kick off a fun Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge. I have created the Tic-Tac-Toe style board below using various stamping themes, elements, and embellishments. Then, similar to the game, you will create something based on picking any row of 3… either vertically, horizontally or diagonally. Fun, right?! And with so many great variables there’s really no reason why you can’t play along!

Check out all this wonderfully fun inspiration the RI Rock Stars have created for you… such a great variety!

And now it’s your turn! The rules are really simple… Remember, your creation doesn’t have to be made with Repeat Impressions stamps, but if you would like to include our designs we would really love to see them! 😀 Plus you will get an additional entry in our random.org drawing for using our stamps in your submissions! Simply create something using this week’s Tic-Tac-Toe board, upload your card to your blog or Splitcoast gallery, then link it here to this post by clicking on the little blue button below.

Don’t forget… we’ve extended our submission dates for challenges again this month so you have plenty of extra time to play along. We will be accepting submissions to this Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge ~ O1117 until 5pm EST on October 31st. All participants will be automatically entered into our random drawing. On October 17th we’ll start a new challenge… our Inspiration Palette Challenge, and so on with the different challenges through the end of the month. Then the first Wednesday in November we’ll announce our October winner. One lucky person will win a $25 Repeat Impressions Gift Certificate!

So what are you waiting for?! Why not play along with us and start stamping up a card now. We can’t wait to see your creations! When you are ready to share your card, please add the direct link to your entry using the link button below. And please be sure to provide a link back here and reference Repeat Impressions Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge ~ O1117 in your blog or gallery posting.

And just a friendly reminder… as I explained last week, this month the deadline for submissions for ALL our challenges will be October 31st. So for example… with today’s Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge you’ll have the rest of the month to create and upload your card. Then when we introduce our next new challenge next week you’ll have two weeks to submit for that one, and then one week for the last challenge of the month. So with a little less of a time crunch we hope you’ll find that you have more opportunity to play along with more of our challenges.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. We hope you’ve found lots to inspire you and look forward to seeing your challenge creation linked here soon. And please be sure to drop by again on Monday when Rock Star, Deonna Bemish will be hosting and sharing her Project of the Week with us.

Until the next time… happy stamping!

Hi house guests, Cheri here with a new Project of the Week for you. This is more like a two-fer….two projects showing ways to use those individual solid stamps that often times sit in our stamp collection waiting for some love.

The first is a technique using Distress Oxide Inks and direct to stamp layering and the second is an older technique called “faux artisan tile” showcasing those inked stamps.

Disclaimer: I don’t have a lot of photos….my process photos somehow got deleted in the transfer from camera to computer. It’s a new camera and I’m still getting used to it. I think I hit the wrong button.

Here at the supplies you’ll need: Distress Oxide Inks (colors of your choice), solid stamp, VersaMark Ink, clear embossing powder, embossing buddy and a MISTI or other stamp positioner tool, card stock.

potw10917-cw1

Layer Inking process: Swipe the card stock panel with the anti-static tool. Adjust your card stock panel and stamp on your MISTI. Arrange your stamp in the center of the cs panel.

I used 3 different colors for each stamp in my example. Take your lightest ink and begin stamping, either selective areas or over the whole stamp. I did both in my projects. Stamp the inked stamp to the cs panel. Take the next lightest color and do the same, repeat with the darkest color.

Faux Artisan Tile process: Leave your stamp in the MISTI and clean the ink off.

  1. Once you’re happy with your image, remove it from the MISTI. Before proceeding to the next step, your image must be completely dry. This is very important. You can use your heat tool (not in photo) to speed this up.
  2. Use the anti-static pad and swipe it over the dry image. Place the cs panel back in the MISTI and Ink the stamp again, this time with VersaMark Ink.
  3. Stamp the image again with the VersaMark, then taking the image out of the MISTI cover it with clear embossing powder and heat emboss.
  4. Repeat steps 2-3 multiple times - at least 3 or 4 times.
  5. Cover the entire card stock panel well with VersaMark ink, cover with clear embossing powder and heat set.
    Here are my completed projects.

Stamps used RI#5127-K “Maple Leaf Sil” and RI#3213-G “For the Beauty”.

potw10917-cw3

RI#5106-H “Butterfly Sil” and RI#9206-H “Beautiful Days”

potw10917-cw4

RI#2719-K “Large Pine Sil” and RI#2203-H “May Your Heart” (I used only a portion of the stamp).

There you have it… two ways to show those solid stamps some love. I hope you found some inspiration and fun here today and give these projects a try.

This week here at The House That Stamps Built it is my week for a Project of the Week and I chose to do a quick and easy technique with stamping on book pages. Here are my supplies:

potw10217-sh1

I bought a book from Goodwill that had some acceptable script - and paid less than a $1.00. I used the stamps Everyday Blessings 6512-E and Maple Leaf 3312-E as well as some new Oxide Distress inks.

potw10217-sh2

On my Kraft mat I squished my distress oxide inks and then spritzed with water. I did one color at a time using a total of 3 colors of inks.

potw10217-sh3

I put my book page in the spritzed ink and gently pressed in color. I then let it dry - (hardest part).

potw10217-sh4

I stamped my leaves making sure I was on the script, then fussy cut each leaf out.

potw10217-sh5

I finished my card with some autumn papers, and a bit of burlap ribbon. Hope you have fun trying this technique - just make sure the text is “appropriate”.
